Timothy Gonzalez is a Brooklyn-born photographer, curator, and electronic music composer living in Downtown Los Angeles.
At the age of 13, his father gifted him a used 35 mm Chinon, which changed Gonzalez's world view. While he began photographing everything from architect to marco life, it was the frenetic energy of street life that commanded his attention. Living vicariously through someone else’s experience felt natural and exciting. This is when he knew his voyeuristic curiosity of documentary photography was his calling.
Years later after attending the School of Visual Arts, NYC, and Glassel School of Art, Houston, in the late ’90s, photography brought him closer to the Houston art scene. This constant curiosity led Gonzalez to the politically-based Station Museum of Contemporary Art. As a curator, he developed his voice and grew as an artist with the guidance of director James Harithas. Through this creative relationship, Timothy’s socio-political side emerged within his work.
Timothy is currently working as an Art Consultant in feature films.
